MB&F have never been my thing. I want this one badly.
How I got here
I have admired MB&F from a distance for years and never once wanted one.
This is the first one I have actually wanted.
And I can't just buy it. Around 1,500 pieces at CHF 2,900 excluding tax, allocated by public draw — one entry per person, and previous unsuccessful entrants get two chances instead of one.

How it tells the time
The whole dial turns once an hour.
The hour sits in a window on that dial, and the window travels all the way round with it. Wherever it is pointing is the minute.
The arrow in the middle is the seconds — which is the part almost everyone gets wrong first time.
I have watched it turn more times than I want to admit.

The part worth knowing
None of this is new. It is Vincent Calabrese's Baladin, from 1988.
He is also the man who drew the Corum Golden Bridge — the movement standing upright inside a strip of glass.
He is 82. MB&F rebuilt his idea to survive series production and put his name on the dial. That is the part that got me.
Same man.
And it glows
Worth saying out loud, because the photographs of it in the dark are what got me in the first place.
